Samutsongkhram Province

In the Ayutthaya period the area of Samut Songkhram was known as Suan Nork and was a part of Ratchaburi. During the reign of King Taksin it was promoted to a province. It was the birth place of Queen Amarindra of King Rama I, who also initiated the name Suan Nok. The birth place of King Rama II in Amphawa district is now a Memorial Park.

Samutsongkhram province is covering area about 417 square kilometres and its population is about 195,000.

There are many attractive places such as Don Hoi Lot, Wat Chula Mani and Cruising the Mae Klong River.
 

Local Transportation


  • Car: Take road on High way no. 35 Thonburi-Pakthor (Rama II Road) to Maha Chai junction and turn right to Samutsongkhram province. Total distance is about 64 kms.

  • Bus: Both air-conditioned and non air-conditioned buses leave Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal (Boromaratchachonnani Road) to Samutsongkhram province daily.
